The NC20 protection relay can be used to protect shunt capacitor banks and harmonic filtering circuits. Capacitor bank configurations include:
Single star grounded;
Single star ungrounded (with a resistor at the output of the neutral point unbalanced voltage transformer to provide the appropriate input current for unbalance protection);
Double wye ungrounded.
Capacitor banks can be internally/externally fused or unfused capacitor units. The protection device is equipped with a system to compensate for the inherent unbalanced neutral current.
Protection 37, 49, and 50/51 (RMS) is based on the measurement of the true RMS values of the three-phase currents (fundamental and up to the 11th harmonic).
Features:
The Thytronic NC20 relay's functions include monitoring for undervoltage and undercurrent, as well as control of negative sequence overcurrent (r), phase overcurrent, and maximum residual overcurrent. It also provides overvoltage monitoring and circuit breaker fault detection.
The relay monitors phase current transformers and monitors trip circuits to ensure reliable operation. Optional hardware (HW PACK) and software (SW PACK) packages are also available for advanced configuration.
For communication, it features a Type B USB port for easy connection to the ThyVisor configuration software.
