The gas cartridge shipping assemblies are specifically designed to store pressurized nitrogen gas. On release, the nitrogen gas expels fire suppression agent for either an R-102 Restaurant Fire Suppression System or the PIRANHA Restaurant Fire Suppression System. The restaurant systems provide fire protection for restaurant cooking appliances and associated hoods and ducts for hotels, chain stores, restaurants, factories,universities, and other food preparation locations.

The gas cartridge shipping assembly consists of a cartridge, seal, pressure gauge, adaptor, and shipping cap. The hermetically sealed gas cartridges are pressurized to 14.42 MPa (2092 psi) at 20 °C (68 °F). The pressure gauge ranges from 0 MPa (0 psi) to 27.5 MPa (4000 psi). The adaptor is made out of 35 mm hex bar stock steel. When the system is actuated, the cartridge seal is punctured and the released gas expels liquid agent from one or more tanks through the discharge piping and out the discharge nozzles.
